About Calou

In 2005, I was working in Italy on a new jewellery collection. I was sitting at work in my comfortable clogs and suddenly got an idea. I looked at my work shoes in a new light!

The clogs with their characteristic design and old Swedish craftsmanship tradition felt suddenly exotic and full of possibilities. And I did not know then how right in time I was.
My way of decorating the clogs, using new materials and techniques, embossing the leather, and producing different styles and colours became a real success. 

 Today, Calou Stockholm has developed into an international shoe company. What sets us apart from other brands is our shock absorbing and flexible sole similar as from the running shoe industry, which makes our shoes much more comfortable , softer and lighter than a traditional wooden-soled clog. All our shoes are swedish designed and they are made by hand in Italy and Portugal, from carefully chosen materials. The company is run by our family together with other wonderful, talented people who help us on our exciting journey. We are all proud to carry on the Swedish craft tradition!
